Siberia increases coal supply to China

Coal exports from Siberia in the first half of 2018 amounted to 87 million tons. This is higher by 10%than in the same period of 2017. Russia intends to develop transport infrastructure to increase export.

“The regions of the Siberian Federal District sent more than 87 million tons of coal for export, last year, for the same period 79.6 million tons,” said Viktor Zubarev, a member of the State Duma Committee on the State Duma of the Russian Federation.

In trade with the countries of the far abroad, according to the Siberian Customs Administration, fuel and energy goods (mainly stone coal, raw oil, oil products, cokes made of stone coal) make up more than 48% of the total export volume. According to the deputy, the growth of coal exports is due to high demand primarily in Asian states. “Russian coal satisfies foreign customers in terms of price ratio - quality, therefore it can be assumed that the growth of fuel export will continue,” he said.

In the first half of 2018, as follows from the statistics of customs officers, the region sent more than 10.6 million tons of coal to Korea - this country is the leader in fuel purchases. The second is China, more than 8.3 million tons are delivered there. Japan imported about 7.2 million tons of coal. Judging by the first half of 2017, deliveries increased to China and Japan.
