A court in Crimea extended the arrest of an anarchist accused of calling for terrorism

The Evpatoria City Court of Crimea extended the arrest of Yevgeny Karakashev for a month, who is accused of calling for terrorism. It is reported by "Crimea. Realities".

Karakashev will remain in the pre-trial detention center until October 24. According to his lawyer Aleksey Ladin, the investigator explained the need to extend the arrest by the fact that Karakashev "may hide from the territory of Russia", interfere with the investigation, influence witnesses, "continue criminal activity." In addition, he stated that he did not have time to acquaint the accused and the defense counsel with the case materials and perform "other necessary investigative procedural actions."

“This petition is a complete clone of the previous one, according to which Evgeny was extended his detention for a month. What investigative actions should be performed, the investigator could not really explain, ”Ladin told the publication.

In the case file on the extension of the arrest, Karakashev's defense found a report from an employee of the Center for Combating Extremism and a record of additional interrogation of the main witness in the case, Sergei Vasilchenko. The police officer explains in the document that during the operational search activities he established that Karakashev was allegedly going to hide and interfere with the investigation. During interrogation, Vasilchenko stated that he was “afraid of psychological and physical influence” from Karakashev.

The court session was held behind closed doors. The lawyer intends to appeal the decision of the court.

• Karakashev is accused of inciting hatred or enmity (part 1 of article 282 of the Criminal Code) and of publicly calling for terrorism via the Internet (part 2 of article 205.2 of the Criminal Code). The reason for this was the video "Untitled", published on VKontakte at the end of 2014, and a certain text published on the same social network along with the video "The last interview of Primorye partisans", which was previously included in the register of extremist materials of the Ministry of Justice.

He says that he was in handcuffs until the ITT. He has a huge bruise on his right forehead. Only in the evening Karakashev was able to call a friend and asked to find a lawyer, ”Savchuk wrote.
• According to lawyer Aleksey Ladin, Karakashev himself believes that the initiation of a criminal case against him and the subsequent arrest are related to his activist activities: the man opposed the development of a resort area near Evpatoria in the vicinity of a salt lake.
