The Ministry of Finance of Greece canceled the restrictions on funds from accounts in the country's banks in 2015, TASS reports.
On October 1, the press service of the Ministry of Finance explained, it is allowed without restrictions on cash withdrawal in the country. In addition, the Greeks are allowed to withdraw funds from their accounts in financial institutions abroad for up to 5 thousand euros per month. From 3 thousand to 10 thousand euros, the amount allowed for export abroad increases.
“Thus, two parts of the“ roadmap ”are carried out on the abolition of restrictions on the movement of capital, that is, restrictions on the withdrawal of cash and the movement of capital within the country are canceled, while restrictions on the transfer of capital abroad, provided for in the third part of the road map, are gradually removed,” the Ministry of Finance said.
The restrictions on the movement of capital were introduced three years ago in connection with the acute financial crisis and panic of the population, which began to massage money massively from accounts.
Since then, the government has repeatedly increased the monthly limit to withdraw cash from accounts in Greek banks. Recently, residents were allowed to remove 5 thousand euros per month, but the government considered that such a restriction is already pointless, since it exceeds the needs of most citizens to receive cash for a month. On September 15, the Minister of Finance of Greece Euclid Tsacalotos promised that "a new weakening of control measures will be followed very soon and the country would go to the last stage of the complete abolition of restrictions on the movement of capital.
