The Netherlands police tore large terrorist attacks, arresting 7 people

In the Netherlands, law enforcement agencies arrested seven people who are suspected of conspiracy to organize large -scale terrorist attacks in the country, Interfax reports with reference to AP.

The operation to detain the suspects took place with the involvement of special forces in the cities of Arnem and Verta. The arrests became the result of the investigation that lasted since April, BBC reports.

The leader of the group and the oldest of the detainees - a 34 -year -old native of Iraq - planned to organize a large terrorist attack with the help of suicide bombers armed with assault rifles at one of the crowded events. This could lead to a large number of victims. In another place, terrorists planned to undermine the car filled with explosives.

During the search of the suspects, the youngest of which turned 21 years old, belts with explosives and AK-47 machine guns were discovered. The preparation of terrorist attacks was at the final stage, reports TASS.

Three defendants were previously detained when trying to go abroad to join the militants. Among these three detainees was the 34-year-old citizen of Iraq, who intended to join the Islamic State terrorists in 2017*.

According to the prosecutor's office, the suspects were searching for Kalashnikov machine guns, pistols, hand grenades, suicide bombs and cars that could be filled with explosives. In addition, with the aim of teaching shooting, attackers acquired five small pistols.

Law enforcement agencies did not disclose the information when and where terrorists were to strike. Currently, the country has declared the fourth level of a terrorist threat out of five.
