In the Moscow region town of Elektrostal, journalist Evgeny Kurakin was detained, who was supposed to be released from a special detention center after ten days of administrative arrest, Vera Makarova, who was going to meet Kurakin, told OVD-Info.

According to her, the journalist was supposed to be released at 17:30. At this time, five people in civilian clothes entered the building and soon took Kurakin out. He was put into a civilian car and driven away.

Kurakin managed to say that three of the people in plain clothes were police officers, and two more were witnesses. The people who detained the journalist said that they “have a lead”, without specifying details. Makarova suggested that Kurakin was being taken to the police station in Balashikha.

On September 21, the court in Reutov arrested Kurakin for ten days, finding him guilty of evading payment of a fine (part 1 of Article 20.25 of the Code of Administrative Offences), which he was assigned in June under Article 6.1.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (beatings). In addition to the fine, Kurakin was also arrested for 15 days. According to the journalist, he immediately paid the fine.
