Employees of the Russian Guard in Chelyabinsk tried to detain activists of Navalny’s headquarters

Employees of the Russian Guard in Chelyabinsk tried to detain activists from Navalny’s local headquarters on the pretext that they were allegedly passing through an orientation. Headquarters activist Alexander Belyaev reported this to OVD-Info.

On the night of September 29-30, Belyaev and his comrade-in-arms Sergei Tatichek left the entrance of the house where Boris Zolotarevsky, coordinator of Navalny’s Chelyabinsk headquarters, lives. At that moment, a police car drove up to them, from which the National Guard got out.

“Employees reported that some kind of theft allegedly occurred nearby, and therefore they need to check our identity, as well as all our equipment. They could not explain where exactly this theft took place, did not show directions, and did not introduce themselves. They took away our passports, and then began to threaten us with taking us to the department, where they would talk to us, in their words, “menacing operas,” Belyaev recounted the essence of the meeting with law enforcement officers.

The young people did not show their belongings, and after a long conversation they were released. Boris Zolotarevsky wrote in his telegram channel that Tatichek’s phone IMEI was rewritten.

Belyaev and Zolotarevsky attributed this interest on the part of law enforcement officers to the fact that a few days ago headquarters volunteers created a website with police officers and provocateurs who participated in arrests and beatings of protest participants. Activists noted that the site is currently unavailable due to technical problems that arose after publication.

• On September 9, rallies and marches against raising the retirement age took place in many cities across the country, twelve of which were approved by the authorities. According to OVD-Info, more than 1,195 people were detained, most of all in St. Petersburg - about 623 protesters.
• Boris Zolotarevsky, like many other activists from Navalny’s headquarters in Russian cities, was detained the day before the September 9 action.
• On September 12, in Chelyabinsk, a criminal casewas opened against Olga Stepanova, a participant in the protest against pension reform, under the article of insulting a police officer (insulting a government official). According to the resolution, during the rally Stepanova publicly insulted Vasily Kulakov, district police officer for the Kalininsky district.
