Samara City Hall refused to coordinate the action against pension reform

The administration of Samara refused to coordinate the action against the pension reform and for the return of benefits to pensioners. This was announced in his blog by one of the organizers of the action, the deputy of the regional Duma, Mikhail Matveev.

The event was scheduled to take place on October 13th. The marchers were going to carry portraits of the State Duma deputies from the Samara region, who voted for the pension reform, past the White House, and then hold a rally on Kuibyshev Square.

The mayor's office explained the refusal to hold the march by the fact that 6 hours after it, the Zapashny brothers would perform in the circus located next to the demonstration route. According to the authorities, the action will prevent citizens from getting to the performance.

The administration refused to coordinate the rally due to the fact that the office building of the Samara diocese is located next to Kuibyshev Square. Matveev noted that a fan zone for the World Cup was installed on this very square in the summer.

• On September 27, the State Duma adopted in the final reading a law on raising the retirement age to 65 for men and 60 for women.
• On September 9, Alexei Navalny rallied against the pension reform in many Russian cities. According to OVD-Info, the police detained more than 1,200 people that day.
