The head of the Trans -Baikal Territory Natalya Zhdanova may resign in the near future. This was reported by RBC with reference to sources close to the region’s leadership.
According to one of the sources, the reason for the resignation may be a complex socio-economic situation in the region: the Trans-Baikal Territory takes 65th place out of 85 in the ranking of the socio-economic situation of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation. In addition, Zhdanova has a low rating among the population: 85th place in the national rating of governors.
About the capital of the Trans -Baikal Territory, Chita, the speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko previously spoke negatively. During the last visit, she called the city neglected and groomed, and also noted that in Chita "as it was, it was the outback."
