In the match of the second round of the Amateur Football League (LFL) of Dagestan between the teams “Kiz DD” from Kizilyurt and “Manas” from the Karabudakhkent region, a curious episode occurred.

In the 43rd minute of the match, with the score 4:2 in favor of the hosts, the visiting players earned a penalty. The goalkeeper parried the shot from the 11-meter mark, but the deflected ball ricocheted off the referee's head and into the goal.

After some deliberation, referee Atay Daudov decided to count the goal he scored.

“I didn’t immediately see that the ball was flying into the goal from my head. I realized that the ball was in the goal after the screams. I wanted to dodge, but the ball hit me in the face, it was very unpleasant. Out of the corner of my eye I then saw where the ball was landing. Next is the main the goal was to put myself in order, understand what happened, make a decision,” Daudov told Sports.ru .

The referee admitted that he chose the wrong position in this episode, and from a human point of view he is ashamed in front of the Keys DD team, but the rules of the game are inexorable.

“According to the rules of football, the ball should have been counted, because the referee is also a participant in the game. I doubted it a little, but made the decision I made. More qualified referees later watched the video and said that I did everything right,” he added.

Daudov has been in the Dagestan LFL for seven years: first he played himself, then he commentated, and now he is refereeing. The game eventually ended in a 4:4 draw.
