The former head of the British Foreign Ministry Boris Johnson collapsed on Tuesday with criticism of a plan of future relations with the European Union, which the Prime Minister of Great Britain Teresa May took on the basis of negotiations with Brussels. Johnson outlined his position on the fields of the Congress of the ruling conservative party held in Birmingham, writes The Independent .

"Think about what we could do using the right free trade agreements. And therefore, it is so sad, so desperately wrong that we are preparing to coordinate with Brussels such conditions that will make for us not just a difficult but impossible task to conclude such transactions," he said.

Johnson urged to abandon May's ideas. “The time has come to throw out” [the plan] Cherex, ”he emphasized, speaking about the proposals of Teresa May, approved in the same suburban residence of the Prime Minister in July. According to Johnson, the implementation of the May plan is fraught with political and economic instability.

“This is not democracy. This is not what we voted for. This is an anti -constitutional decision,” he added.

Johnson advised to adopt the so -called Canadian version offered by him and other conservatives, that is, to conclude a comprehensive free trade agreement with the EU, TASS reports.

Johnson’s speech, which is considered one of the most likely competitors of May, was often interrupted by stormy applause. At the same time, during his half-hour speech, the former head of Forin Office did not announce plans to put his candidacy for the post of party leader, which, in case of victory in the intra-party struggle, would automatically make him prime minister.

An alternative plan or “six Johnson points” suggest a rejection of the previous plan and the conclusion of an agreement on a comprehensive free trade zone for the Canadian version from the EU. Johnson also stated that if he managed to take May's place, he would have postponed Brexit for six months in order to conduct new negotiations with Brussels on the conditions of the "divorce".

The official negotiations between London and Brussels under the conditions under which the UK will leave the EU began on June 19, 2017 in the Belgian capital. A year before, at a referendum on this issue in the United Kingdom, the victory with a result of 51.9% against 48.1% was won by opponents of European integration. If the parties manage to reach the final transaction, then it will have to be approved by the European Parliament and the British parliament.

Formally, Brexit will take place on March 29, 2019 (according to British time, at midnight from March 29-30 according to the Middle European), after which, according to the plan, the transition period should come, which will last until the end of 2020.

The Foreign Minister Jeremy Hunt accused the European Union of turning from a club to jail, preventing the UK to leave the community on the conditions that London offers. According to him, creating obstacles to countries that they want to leave the EU, Brussels repeats the mistakes of the USSR and will only strengthen centrifugal trends within the community.

Meanwhile, the British Prime Minister Teresa May did not agree with the assessments of her minister. On Tuesday morning, she emphasized that, according to her observations, there is little in common between the two unions.

“I am sitting at the EU round table along with representatives of countries that were part of the Soviet Union, but now they are democratic states. I can tell you that these two organizations are by no means the same thing,” May said.

According to Teresa May, despite the fact that British negotiations with the EU are now at a dead end, her office does not intend to deviate from the positions occupied. Answering the question of what she thinks about alternatives to the government plan for the implementation of Brexit, presented in July in the country's suburban premier residence, May emphasized that he has no real alternatives.
