The United States is not going to cancel sanctions against North Korea until complete denuclearization

The United States intends to continue to resolutely maintain a sanctions regime in relation to the DPRK until complete denuclearization, a representative of the US State Department Hiser Neurta said on Tuesday at a briefing in Washington. China and Russia agree with such a policy, although these countries "could do more," she stated.

“Each time we have the opportunity to discuss this, with China, Russia, any other country in the world, we are talking about preserving these sanctions, and not to mitigate sanctions against North Korea until we see the complete and final denuclearization to be verified,” Interfax Chizer quotes.

She also noted that the US policy has not changed, and is to maintain maximum pressure on the DPRK. At the same time, the Washington official indicated that good relations between the two leaders can "help in achieving the final goal."

Nauert during a briefing confirmed that US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo will meet with DPRK leader Kim Jong -un on October 7. The Secretary of State will visit four Asian countries - Japan, DPRK, the Republic of Korea and China - from October 6 to 8.

On October 6, in Tokyo, the chief of American diplomacy will meet with the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and the head of the Foreign Ministry of Taro Kono. In Seoul, on October 7-8, the Secretary of State will hold negotiations with the President of the Republic of Korea Moon Jaeh and Foreign Minister Kan Gyon Gra. In Beijing on October 8, Pompeo will meet with the Chief of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China Van and "will discuss bilateral regional and global problems."

As reported at the end of September, the head of the State Department will discuss in Pyongyang the preparation of the second meeting of US President Donald Trump and Kim Jong -un.

Earlier, the head of the Washington administration said that preparations for the new American-Sevan-Korean summit are already underway, and at the moment significant progress in the Denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula has been achieved. He said that the new meeting between the United States and the DPRK will take place in the not so distant future, but, apparently, not in Singapore.

The first in history meetings between the United States and the DPRK took place on June 12 in Singapore. According to its results, Trump and Kim Jong -un accepted a joint statement. In it, Pyongyang announced his readiness to go to the full denuclearization of the Korean peninsula, and the United States pledged to provide the DPRK of security guarantees. Nevertheless, the intentions of the parties in the final communique of the Singapore summit are not specified.
