On Tuesday at 9 in the morning, the prisoner Evgeny Makarov went beyond the gates of the Yaroslavl correctional colony No. 8, where he spent the last two months from his term in EPT1, in a cage per one. He went to the Makarov zone with an ordinary prisoner, and he was already a celebrity. It was he who got the main (tragic) role in a ten-minute video shot on the DVR of one of the employees of the Yaroslavl IK-1. In this video, which today has already gained about 3 million views, 18 colony workers cruelly torture a prisoner crucified on the table in the “class of educational work”. The crucified prisoner was just Makarov, although they were tortured in the colony, of course, not his one.

The video of his torture was managed to get lawyers of the Public Verdict Human Rights Fund, who had been trying to institute criminal cases on the facts of torture in the colony for more than a year and a half. They received refusal to refuse until they found this record. On July 20, it was published on the website of Novaya Gazeta, on the same day a criminal case was opened against the colony workers.

We and the public verdict are approaching the colony gate for about eight in the morning. Eldar Luzin’s lawyer is worried: usually the released is released after eight, but the colony, not interested in the hype around the liberation of Makarov, can release him and early, without witnesses, as, for example, was with the “swamp” Ivan the Nepomnya. At seven in the morning he left prison - and nobody outside the gate.

The long -term hero of Novaya Gazeta Ruslan Vakhapov, who was released from the Yaroslavl zone only in June, conducted a brief review of the types of colony for the gathered journalists:

Ruslan Vakhapov, who served his five and a half years in the Yaroslavl colony, from call to call, the key character in this story. Having received in 2012 the absurd, hastily concocted sentence on charges of depraved actions against minors (he urinated on the side of the road and accidentally caught the eyes of the children), Vakhapov did not reconcile, did not bend, but continued to keep his back straight in the colony. He was beaten - he wrote everywhere, complained, he was beaten again. On the occasion of this colony, Ivan Nepomnychy was serving a sentence, convicted of the “swamp case” and also had absolutely specific ideas about the value of human dignity. The Nepomnya was also beaten, and he also wrote, and also to no avail.

“We have been familiar with Evgeny Makarov since about 2014. Together with him, we served a sentence in strict conditions of content, ate at the same table. And this is the upbringing that you need to demand what you have to be according to the law probably was supposed to be from me, ”Vahapov told reporters, explaining the genesis of the Makarovsky resistance.

Stubborn dignity, such a pre -doomed, lion's resistance to all -converging evil is very beautiful, right? However, unlike other beautiful examples, this is not at all contagious. In fact, sterile. Indeed, in the Yaroslavl colony there were many other convicts, which were just as broken out of love for Vertukha art. However, for some reason, only Makarov, who was sitting at all from a romantic article, joined the ideological non-reflectors and Vakapov. (And for which - it does not matter.)

Evgeny Makarov is now, at the time of liberation, 25 years. And he sat down at 17. That is, besides Vakhapov, he didn’t especially have teachers in his life - this is not the case of prison psychologists. But Vakhapov, in my opinion, managed to teach him a short course of the most important science.

Closer to half past ninth, when the date of the dates opens, relatives and friends of the prisoners begin to pull up to the colony. Moms are easy to distinguish by voluminous bags, wives-in heels and frivolous skirts, this is in such and such a cold.

Relatives and friends also shock the meeting at the colony gates.

This is already personal. ” From the distance, we watch how the three of them - the mother of the prisoner Makarov, Ruslan Vakhapov and his wife Julia - stand, hugging. “Today you can cry as much as you want, Tanya, as much as you want,” Vakhapov says to his mother.

Eugene is released at nine in the morning. He goes beyond the gate in a warm prison jacket and black plastic shales. He is small and feeble, especially against the background of a tall Vakhapov, who acquires him by the shoulders, as if cheering. “Hello everything! - says Makarov. “Thank you all for support, for the fact that all of you was not indifferent to what was happening in this slave system that they arranged here.”

Well, further - about other sites who began to slowly raise their heads, after everything that happened, and although they did not declare anywhere about the violation of their rights and the torture experienced, but "we keep them under control."

By the way, Makarov expressed his concern to the issue of state protection as the assembled journalists: “This moment should be dealt with, because it will happen. Because I am limited to one place of residence and ten in the evening. So anyone who wants to be able to come at ten in the evening and meet me, and I do not know what to do. ”

Makarov’s concern with this issue shares the “public verdict”. Until the day of release, according to the resolution of the investigator, the obligation to ensure state protection was assigned to the head of the colony. How the state will provide him with defense now, after liberation, it is not clear, the investigator said nothing about this. The situation is also aggravated by the fact that Makarov has been appointed three years of supervision, i.e. All this time he will be obliged after ten in the evening to be at the place of registration.

Meanwhile, six of the eighteen defendants of the torture video still remain free, having no procedural status at all.

As, however, both the colony authorities and people from the leadership of the regional Federal Penitentiary Service, who, as follows from the materials of the criminal case, ordered “educational work” regarding the eternal complainant Makarov, as well as a video confirmation of the fact of these works.

Later, in a cafe, the freed Makarov drank cognac with human rights activists and previously released cellmates. I almost did not bite.
