In Bashkiria, the investigator who rewrote the resolution to initiate a case was suspected of exceeding her powers

In Bashkiria, the Investigative Committee opened a case against the investigator of the Ministry of Internal Affairs department for the Tuymazinsky district for abuse of power (part 1 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code) and forgery of official duties (part 1 of Article 292 of the Criminal Code), according to the website of the regional department of the Investigative Committee.

As the Investigative Committee established, in the fall of 2017, the investigator opened a case of fraud against a resident of the Tuymazinsky district (Part 3 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code). However, she then rewrote the decision to initiate the case in order to “ease the need for a large volume of investigative and procedural actions.”

In the new resolution, the investigator indicated that the case was filed against an unidentified person. They then suspended the investigation because they could not find the suspects.

The press service of the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs told UfacityNews that the department is also conducting an internal audit. “If the employee’s guilt is proven, he will be dismissed on negative grounds and held accountable under the law, and his managers will be subject to strict disciplinary liability,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.
