Magas District Court arrested for 12 days two protesters against the exchange of territories between Ingushetia and Chechnya. This was reported by Interfax on October 2, citing an official from the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Ingushetia.

In the area of the roundabout near Magas, the police detained and brought to the department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Nazran 30-year-old and 32-year-old residents of the rural settlements of Nesterovskoye and Ekazhevo. Protocols were drawn up against them under part 6.1 of article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (participation in an action that caused interference with the functioning of life support facilities, transport or social infrastructure). Their names are not reported.

Protests in Magas and Sunzha began on September 25 after it became known about the resignation of Issa Khashagulgov from the post of head of the Sunzhensky district. Activists regarded Khashagulgov's departure as a protest against the transfer of part of the lands of Ingushetia to Chechnya.
On September 26, it became known that the heads of Chechnya and Ingushetia signed an agreement on the mutual transfer of land between the republics.
At the end of August, activists reported that workers from Chechnya were carrying out construction work on the territory of Ingushetia. In early September, it became known that Ramzan Kadyrov established a commission to determine and clarify the borders of the republic. Later, the head of Ingushetia, Yunus-Bek Yevkurov, said that the situation around the border of the republics "does not get out of control."
