In Kostroma, the former coordinator of Navalny's headquarters, Alexander Zykov, was detained. Zykov himself announced this to OVD-Info.
The police took Zykov to the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Kostroma, where they drew up a protocol under part 8 of Article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (repeated violation of the rules for holding an event) for organizing a rally on September 9th.
UPD 19:15 Zykov was left overnight at the police department. Tomorrow morning, his case will be heard in the Sverdlovsk District Court.
- In August 2017, Alexander Zykov, along with other supporters of Alexei Navalny, installed a campaign cube in the local Hyde Park. The police arrived there, and Alexander Zykov argued with Major Volkov, who was in civilian clothes, about the legality of the action. Volkov grabbed Zykov by the neck and hit his head in the face, breaking his eyebrow to the point of blood. In September, the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under the article on abuse of office with the use of violence (clause “a” part 3 of article 286 of the Criminal Code)
- In March 2018, the court sentenced Volkov to three years of probation under the article on abuse of power. At the end of June, the Interior Ministry officially apologized to Zykov for Volkov's actions. In August, a Kostroma court awarded Zykov 35,000 rubles in compensation for moral damage.
