A Navalny supporter in Orsk said that he was beaten by employees of Center “E”

Vladimir Klopov, a supporter of opposition politician Alexei Navalny, said that in Orsk he was beaten by employees of the Center for Combating Extremism. This writes "Echo of Moscow in Orenburg".

According to Klopov, on September 22, a police captain approached him on the street, who introduced himself as an employee of the Center "E" and invited him to go to the department for a conversation. The activist refused to go without a summons. Then the policeman came to Klopov's house several times with subpoenas, but, according to the activist, these subpoenas were drawn up incorrectly. After several attempts to call the activist "for a conversation", the employees of the Center "E" detained Klopov at his house.

The publication quotes Denis Iskhakov, lawyer of the Committee Against Torture, to whom the activist addressed. He says that during the arrest Klopov was hit on the asphalt, and then beaten in the police department. In the intervals between beatings, the activist was “explained” that he “lives wrong”. After some time, an investigator came to Navalny's supporter in the department and offered to sign the protocol of interrogation. It said that Klopov confessed to spreading extremist materials on social networks. But the activist said that back in 2017 he deleted all his social media accounts and refused to sign the protocol. In addition, he told the investigator that he had been beaten by the police. After that, the employees of the Center "E" were taken to the hospital, but taken to the morgue, where Klopov was examined by a doctor.

“We saw all of his injuries. <...> When he left the morgue, he met with friends, he went to the emergency room, recorded bodily injuries. In the Bureau of Forensic Medical Examination, bodily injuries are described on half a page. This is a lot. And there, directly, the expert wrote that, in his words, bodily injuries as a result of beating by the police. It’s generally rare to find such things for experts to write like this, ”Iskhakov said.

According to the human rights activist, on October 5 he sent a statement to the UK indicating the witnesses of the beating. But they haven't been interviewed yet.

Last week, a response came from the district police officer, who, after questioning the employees of the Center "E", issued a decision on the absence of corpus delicti in their actions.

The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Orenburg region said they would fire police officers if their guilt was proven. Echo of Moscow in Orenburg failed to get a comment from the UK.
