The Biysk city court fined city Duma deputy Yevgeny Korchagin 10,000 rubles for an “indefinite hunger strike” with a tent near the city hall. About this writes “Siberia. Realities".
The deputy began his action against the healthcare system in Biysk and Altai Krai on 9 October. He demanded the creation of a local department of the city health department and the dismissal of the Minister of Health of the region, Irina Dolgova. The next day, the prosecutor's office considered the action illegal. In court, Yevgeny Korchagin was charged with a violation under Part 2 of Article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (holding a rally without filing a notification).
“The concern of the authorities was caused by the intention of two people to join the action the very next day and set up their tents nearby. There is no doubt that at least 10-15 citizens would go on a hunger strike in a week, since Biychans are outraged by the city’s healthcare, or rather, its inaccessibility,” the deputy said.
