In Crimea, the arrest of blogger Nariman Memedeminov was extended for two months

On October 11, the Kiev District Court of Simferopol extended the arrest of blogger and activist of the public association “Crimean Solidarity” Nariman Memedeminov for two months. This was reported on the movement's Facebook page.

In these videos, the publication writes, Memedinov spoke about Islam and the activities of the Hizb ut-Tahrir organization, which is recognized as terrorist in Russia. Lawyer Semedlyaev draws attention to the fact that the activist posted videos in 2013 and 2014: at that time, Crimea was under the jurisdiction of Ukraine, where the activities of Hizb ut-Tahrir are considered legal.

On the same day - October 11 - the court rejected the complaint of lawyer Edem Semedlyaev about the investigator’s refusal to provide copies of the results of the examination in the Memedeminov case, writes “Crimea. Realities." According to the defense lawyer, the court notified about the consideration of the complaint at the beginning of the hearing.

“People are being deprived of the most basic thing - the right to defense. Due to the refusal, we cannot turn to other experts to undergo an alternative examination so that we can check how the examination was carried out. The investigator and judge of the Kyiv District Court denied us this,” Semedlyaev told the publication.

• Memedeminov was detained on March 22. Before this, a search was carried out in his house, during which the security forces broke down the door, behaved rudely, used obscene language, immediately put the activist on the floor and handcuffed him. Phones, a tablet and several books were confiscated from Memedeminov and his wife.
• After this, the Crimean Solidarity association published an appeal regarding the incident: “The Trade Union of Independent Media Workers of Crimea considers the arrest of Nariman Memedeminov to be another act of intimidation aimed at all citizen journalists working in Crimea, as well as another demonstration of the deliberate struggle of law enforcement officers against freedom of speech on the territory of the peninsula "
