Secretary of the General Council of "United Russia" Andrey Turchak demanded that the Ministry of Culture "under no circumstances" issue a rental certificate for Alexei Krasovsky's comedy "Holiday", which takes place in besieged Leningrad.
“Shooting such a ‘movie’ is a mockery of the history of our people, there are topics that cannot be joked about,” Turchak said in a statement received by TASS on Monday.
- The film "Holiday" is due out in 2019. It tells how a privileged family living in Leningrad "in a special position" is preparing to celebrate the New Year. Filming has already been completed, but so far the creators have not applied to the Ministry of Culture for a rental certificate.
- The Russian Military Historical Society also demanded to prevent the film from being released. The Commission of the Public Chamber for the Preservation of Traditional Values announced its intention to apply to the Ministry of Culture for an additional assessment.
