The Ministry of Labor proposed spending three months and 33 thousand rubles on retraining people of pre-retirement age

It is planned to retrain people of pre-retirement age within three months, taking them away from work, writes RBC, citing a draft of the corresponding program prepared by the Ministry of Labor.

The Ministry of Labor estimated the average cost of such a refresher course at 33 thousand rubles. It is planned to allocate funds for training from the budget, and those taking the refresher course will be paid a salary in the amount of the minimum wage established in the region.

The Ministry of Labor's draft states that retraining people of retirement age is aimed at "enriching" their existing professional skills and finding practical application for them. Teaching such people fundamentally new skills, RBC cites the document, "is not always appropriate or convenient for them."

Both employed people of pre-retirement age and unemployed people will be able to undergo retraining. It is not yet clear whether employed people will be paid a stipend during their training.

It is planned to spend 31.6 billion rubles on the retraining program in 2018–2024, including 30 billion rubles from the federal budget.
