The Russian Orthodox Church has severed relations with Constantinople

The Russian Orthodox Church has decided to completely cease Eucharistic communion with the Patriarchate of Constantinople.

• On October 11, the Holy Synod of the Church of Constantinople terminated the 300-year-old decree on the transfer of the Kiev Metropolitanate to the Moscow Patriarchate, lifted the anathema from the heads of two Ukrainian non-canonical churches, and confirmed its commitment to the course of granting autocephaly to Ukraine.
• The Russian Orthodox Church is strongly against granting autocephaly to the future united Ukrainian church. Moscow has repeatedly promised to break off Eucharistic communion with Constantinople in such a case.
