The non -governmental organization "Transpenseri International -Russia", engaged in monitoring corruption, announced the collection of money for the payment of a million rubles of compensation to the rector of the Mining University Vladimir Litvinenko. Under his leadership, President of Russia Vladimir Putin defended his thesis. The collection of money is reported on the official website of the organization.
The organization lost to Litvinenko a lawsuit to protect honor and dignity after the publication of the investigation "Billionaire from the Mountain". It stated that the rector of the Mining University owns part of the space in an elite residential complex in St. Petersburg, built on the site allocated by the educational institution for the construction of the scientific and laboratory complex and the faculty of continuing education.
The court did not dispute the facts from the investigation, but demanded that the organization refute and pay compensation for mentioning the “billionaire from the mountain” text in the vote for the “main corruption case” of 2016.
Vladimir Litvinenko is considered a person who is part of the so -called "close circle" of Vladimir Putin. In addition to the leadership in writing the dissertation, the rector four times headed Putin’s election headquarters in the president’s hometown-St. Petersburg. The daughter of Litvinenko Olga, who is now living abroad, called her father the "shadow cashier of Putin" and claimed that the rector of the Mining University was holding Putin's capital.
Litvinenko has been leading the rating of the richest rector of Russia for three consecutive years, compiled by the publication of RBC. In 2017, he, according to the declaration, earned 248 million rubles.
