Anarchist Ilya Romanov was sentenced to five and a half years in a maximum security colony

The Volga District Military Court in Samara sentenced Nizhny Novgorod anarchist Ilya Romanov to five and a half years in a strict regime colony. This was reported by an Interfax correspondent from the courtroom.

Romanov was found guilty in the case of incitement to terrorism (part 2 of article 205.2 of the Criminal Code). In total, he will spend seven years in the colony - the term that the defendant did not serve in the previous case was added to the punishment. The term will be calculated from the date of the judgment.

“I realized that there is no justice,” Romanov’s answer to the judge’s question about whether he understands the verdict is reported by Interfax.

Idel. Realii, according to Romanov's lawyer, Oleg Zaitsev, reports that when passing the sentence, the court did not pay attention to the fact that his client was in more severe conditions than if he was in a colony at that moment.

Earlier, the prosecution asked to appoint Romanov six years in prison.

The case against the anarchist was opened in May 2017. According to investigators, in May 2017, while in Prison Hospital No. 21, Romanov posted a video “Invitation to Jihad” on the Voldemar Putiniana Facebook page. Realii noted that during the consideration of the case, the main witness for the prosecution, prisoner Sergei Zhuravlev, who was in the same ward of the prison hospital with Romanov, repeatedly changed his testimony and admitted that he had collaborated with FSB operative Yegor Mitochkin. There was also a witness in the case, Vladimir Shkolnikov, a prisoner in IK-22 of Mordovia, who, according to Romanov, slandered him in court.
