The brother of the head of the “Free Aul” was sentenced to six months in prison

The Nalchik City Court sentenced Beslan Iritov, brother of Aslan Iritov, head of the Volny Aul public organization, to six months in prison and considered the sentence to have expired. This was reported by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent from the courtroom.

He was found guilty under Part 2 of Article 318 of the Criminal Code (violence endangering the life or health of a government official). Iritov pleaded not guilty. Earlier, the prosecution demanded that Beslan be sentenced to two years in prison.

According to investigators, Beslan and Aslan Iritov beat the police on October 31, 2017, while Aslan is disabled, he has no hands. The investigation believes that the attack took place when the security forces with machine guns who came to the Iritovs were going to give the head of the "Free aul" a warning against holding uncoordinated rallies. The case of Beslan Iritov was separated into a separate proceeding.

After the case was opened, the Iritov brothers were placed under house arrest. In July, the court softened Beslan's preventive measure, changing it to a written undertaking not to leave.

• According to Iritov's daughter, a criminal case was opened against her father and his brother after they refused to withdraw from the police a statement about the beating of their family. According to investigators, Aslan Iritov hit one employee with his head in the face and cut his lip, and tried to strangle another.
• Before the initiation of the case, Aslan Iritov was detained after a meeting of the elders of the village, where the activist was going to discuss the problem with the land, which was taken over by the mayor's office. The police broke into the house during the arrest.
• The "Caucasian Knot" notes that the organization "Volny Aul" sought to allocate land plots to needy residents of the Nalchik microdistrict of the same name. But the organization could not take part in the auction for the right to lease a land plot in Volny aul, since the amount of the deposit amounted to 15 million rubles. Activists called this amount too high.
