An activist of “Free Petersburg” was arrested for 15 days in St. Petersburg

The Dzerzhinsky District Court arrested Sergei Belyaev, an activist from Free Petersburg, for 15 days. He was found guilty of repeated violation of the rules for holding public events (part 8 of article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). This was reported to OVD-Info by the “Aid group for detainees in St. Petersburg”.

Belyaev was detained on the evening of October 25, allegedly because he used profanity in a public place. He was taken to police department No. 78. There, a protocol was drawn up against Belyaev

under the article on petty hooliganism (part 1 of article 20.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses) and left for the night in the department.

In the morning it turned out that another report had already been drawn up against the activist, on repeated violation of the rules for holding public events (part 8 of article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). This offense, according to the police, Belyaev committed when he was walking with balloons along Nevsky Prospekt on October 2.

“I visited him at the police station, gave him a power of attorney and an application for my admission, they accepted these documents from me, but they never handed him over, and they didn’t let me see him,” public defender Varya Mikhailova told OVD-Info.
