A Lion Air Boeing 737 MAX 8 on a Jakarta-Punkalpinang flight crashed off the coast of the western tip of Java on Monday, October 29.
The plane disappeared from radar screens 13 minutes after takeoff. It is reported that the crew requested to return to the airport, after which communication with them was interrupted, TASS reports .
There were 188 people on board, including 7 crew members. Rescuers found the crash site, it is assumed that the plane is at a depth of about 30-35 meters in the waters of the Java Sea. Wreckage and personal belongings of the passengers were found in the water.
