Prisoners in another Yaroslavl colony reported torture

Update: The Department of the Federal Penitentiary Service for the Yaroslavl region has begun checking information about torture in the colony in Uglich.

Prisoners of IK-3 in Uglich, Yaroslavl region, applied to the Public Verdict Foundation with a statement about torture.

According to Public Verdict on its Telegram channel, the foundation's lawyer managed to talk to four prisoners. One of them, Alexander Kochergin, in particular, told how the colony officers undressed him, forced him to squat several dozen times, and then beat him and left him in cold weather in an unheated room.

Another interviewee, Rafael Miftakhov, said that he was forced to write a statement about initiating a criminal case against another prisoner who complained to the prosecutor's office about torture.

The Foundation's lawyers intend to apply to the investigating authorities in the near future so that they check the information about torture and resolve the issue of initiating criminal cases.
