What's in the suitcase? Are you lying to me? Robots with built-in lie detectors to be installed at entry points to Europe

Robots will be installed at the borders of Greece, Hungary and Latvia that will test tourists with a lie detector.

The robot will be able to ask travelers questions. For example, “What is in your suitcase?” Or “If I open the suitcase, will your answer be true?” Artificial intelligence records and analyzes microexpressions that appear on tourists’ faces during their answers – this is how it distinguishes lies from truth.

The robot will adapt to the gender, nationality and language of the tourist being interviewed. Those who pass the check will receive a special QR code with permission to cross the border. The robot will send the rest to border service officers who will conduct additional checks.

Currently, the technology works correctly only in 76% of cases. But, firstly, only 30 people took part in the experiment. Secondly, its participants were specifically asked to lie during the test to see if the robot would detect their lies. This directly affects the microexpressions that arise in people. The creators of the technology are convinced that in the near future they will be able to increase the accuracy of the result to at least 85%.

The experiment will last six months.
