In Kherson, the arrest of journalist Vyshinsky was extended

The Kherson city court extended the arrest of RIA Novosti Ukraine journalist Kirill Vyshinsky until December 28, his previous term expired on November 4. This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the lawyer Andrei Domansky.

“We again call on the relevant international structures, human rights non-governmental organizations to respond, to react decisively, to condemn all forms of pressure by the Ukrainian authorities on the media, not only on Kyrylo Vyshinsky, but on everything, including prosecution and physical violence,” the Foreign Ministry spokeswoman said. Russian Maria Zakharova after information about the extension of the arrest.

She also expressed regret that the arrest was extended despite the call by the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media, Harlem Désir, to the Ukrainian authorities to release the journalist.

Recall that Ukraine accused Vyshinsky of high treason and the publication of materials justifying the annexation of Crimea to Russia. He faces up to 15 years in prison.

The Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal case under the articles “obstructing the legal activities of a journalist” (Article 144 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and “bringing a knowingly innocent person to criminal responsibility” (Article 299 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). Vyshinsky is a citizen of Ukraine and Russia at the same time.
