The Prime Minister of the Czech Republic called for abandoning the UN migration pact

The Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Andrei Babish called not to sign the United Nations migration agreement. During his speech in the lower house of the Czech parliament, the prime minister proposed to follow the example of Hungary and Austria. Earlier, these countries refused to participate in the UN agreement. The Czech government will discuss the document next week.

In September, the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Czech Republic Yang Hamachek supported the UN document, which is a declaration of intent and is not mandatory for execution.

The UN plans to accept the "World Pact for Regulated Migration" in December 2018 at a conference in Morocco. It contains a number of measures optional to execution. In particular, the document proposes to issue documents to refugees, in the event of their absence, as well as ensure the access of migrants to social assistance.

In December last year, the United States abandoned the UN migration agreement. In Washington, they then stated that some pact directives are contrary to the migration policy of US President Donald Trump. In July, Hungary abandoned participation. The country's Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that the contract encourages migration and is dangerous for the world in Hungary. The day before, Austria refused to participate in the agreement. The Federal Chancellor Sebastian Kurtz explained such a step by the need to protect the national sovereignty of the country.
