In most cases, especially outside the European region - statistics of deaths in this area are not conducted, so the data presented can be underestimated, the agency clarifies.
According to him, people around the world run mainly from war, hunger and unemployment. During the movement from their native countries, many die in deserts, drown or become victims of the slave trade.
At the end of August, migrants from Africa, whom Italy refused to accept, said that they had to spend two years captive with smugglers in Libya. The slave traders raped prisoners and demanded a ransom for liberation from their families, refugees said. The facts of rape were confirmed by European doctors.
Within a few months after the start of Russia's intervention in Syria in 2015-2016, about a million refugees moved to Germany alone. Türkiye then accepted about two million more people. The West accused Moscow of deliberately provoking migration flows in the EU through random bombing in Syrian cities. To date, the stream of immigrants from Africa to European countries has been significantly reduced.
