The Kazakh football club "Kairat" has decided not to renew the contract with Russian midfielder Andrei Arshavin, according to the team's official website .
The farewell ceremony for the 37-year-old veteran of the team will take place on November 11 at Kairat's home stadium "Central" in Almaty during the match with Karaganda Shakhtar.
There, fans will have the opportunity to “thank the legendary football player for his bright career as part of the Almaty club and the game that made all the residents of the southern capital fall in love with him.”
Over three seasons, Andrei played over 100 matches in a yellow and black shirt, in which he scored 30 goals and gave 37 assists. Together with the club, he won silver medals three times in the national championship, the Cup and the Super Cup of Kazakhstan.
In May of this year, Arshavin announced the imminent end of his sports career . He noted that he “didn’t get tired of football itself, it’s a favorite pastime.”
