
The bear attacked two teenagers in the Milkovsky district of the Kamchatka Territory, one of them died. After the attack, the aggressive animal was shot by hunters, TASS reports.
“On Monday, six kilometers from the village of Lazo, a bear attacked two teenagers 13 and 15 years old, who went home from a water intake home. The youngest of the boys was able to run away and inform the residents of the nearest house, the eldest died. Two hunters arrived at the scene who shot a bear who attacked adolescents,” the regional government website said.
According to the deputy chairman of the regional government, Sergei Khabarov, residents of the region should follow the rules of safe stay in the forest. Bears have not yet hibernated and can show aggression in relation to people.
The Milkovsky district is located in the southern part of the Kamchatka Peninsula. The population of the district is almost ten thousand people.
About 20 thousand bears live in Kamchatka. Sometimes animals show aggression and attack people. According to the statist of the regional authorities, in 2017, more than 20 bears were shot in the region, which posed a threat to humans, in 2016 - 60 bears. In 2015, 59 predators were killed in precautions.
