CSKA lost again to the Italian Roma in the Champions League match

CSKA Moscow lost to the Italian "Roma" in the match of the fourth round of the group stage of the UEFA Champions League.

The meeting, held in Moscow, ended with the score 2:1.

The score in the match was already opened in the fourth minute: CSKA goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev came out to intercept after a corner, but Kostas Manolas won the fight and scored with a header.

A few minutes later, one of the leaders of the Moscow team, defender Mario Fernandez, was seriously injured after a collision with Roma player Aleksandar Kolarov: in the fight for the ball, a CSKA player was kneed in the face. Fernandez, who was carried off the field on a stretcher, was replaced by defender Georgy Shchennikov.

Until the end of the first half, the teams had several attacks, but none of them ended in a goal.

Five minutes after the break, CSKA leveled the score: after Ilzat Akhmetov's cross into the penalty area, Arnor Sigurdsson accurately shot into Roma's goal.

At the 55th minute, the Turkish referee showed the second yellow card to Herdur Magnusson, who interrupted the opponent's dangerous attack. As a result, the CSKA player was removed from the field. Soon Roma took the lead again: Lorenzo Pellegrini, jumping out one on one with the CSKA goalkeeper, outplayed him and scored a goal.

Despite the game in the minority, the army team attacked Roma's goal more than once, but all the blows were either parried by the goalkeeper or did not hit the target.

On October 23, CSKA Moscow lost to the Italian Roma in the match of the third round of the group stage of the UEFA Champions League.

The Moscow club missed the first place in the group, which they occupied after two games. Roma are leading the group with nine points. In second place is Real Madrid, which has yet to play with the Czech club Victoria.

To advance to the playoffs, a team needs to take first or second place in the group. CSKA still have chances to advance from the group.
