A member of the Memorial Human Rights Center was fined 200 thousand in a criminal case of fictitious registration

In Moscow, Magistrate No. 85 fined Bakhrom Khamroev, a member of the Memorial Human Rights Center and the head of the Yordam (Help) organization, 200 thousand rubles in a case of fictitious registration. Memorial reports this with reference to lawyer Timofey Shirokov.

The human rights activist registered a distant relative from Tajikistan and an asylum seeker from Kyrgyzstan in his apartment. The investigation believes that the men did not intend to live in the apartment. In February 2018, Khamroev was charged under Article 322.3 (fictitious registration of foreign citizens). The lawyer argues that the presence of selfish or other intent on the part of Bakhrom Khamroev in connection with the registration of men has not been proven. According to the Memorial member, the criminal case was initiated by his human rights activities.

Then he was involved in the case of two refugees from Uzbekistan as a witness. During interrogation, FSB officers asked why he was helping extremists.
