The Tobolsk City Court sentenced Denis Polozov, an employee of the interdistrict prosecutor's office, who drunkenly hit a pedestrian to death, to two years in a penal colony, writes Znak.com.
According to the case file on the court’s website, Polozov was found guilty under Part 4 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code (violation of traffic rules and operation of vehicles, committed by a person in a state of intoxication, resulting in the death of a person through negligence).
The defense insisted that Polozov was not driving at a speed of 88 kilometers per hour, but that the pedestrian violated traffic rules. The state prosecution asked for three years in a colony settlement for the accused.
As Znak.com wrote , the prosecutor knocked down a man born in 1958 on the night of March 11. The victim died on the spot. A medical examination showed that the driver was drunk. After the accident, it became known that Polozov left the prosecutor's office.
