In the Smolensk region, the Investigative Committee opened a case against a prisoner in correctional colony No. 6 in the city of Roslavl for beating another convict to death (part 4 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code), according to the department’s website.
According to preliminary data, on November 7, a conflict occurred between two prisoners in the colony, during which the suspect severely beat the victim. As a result, the prisoner died.
The suspect has now been detained and placed in a punishment cell. The local publication Readovka, citing the department of the Federal Penitentiary Service and the Investigative Committee, writes that the victim died of a traumatic brain injury; he was 39 years old. According to the publication, he was convicted of crimes against the sexual integrity of minors.
