A case was opened in Bashkiria over the issuance of expired insulin for injection to children

In the Republic of Bashkortostan, the Investigative Committee opened a case after reports of doctors giving expired insulin for injection to children, according to the department’s website.

After a pre-investigation inspection of the Republican Children's Clinical Hospital, the case was opened under Part 1 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code (provision of services that do not meet the requirements for the safety of life or health of consumers). There are no suspects yet.

In October, the local publication ProUfu published stories from parents that doctors at the Russian Children's Clinical Hospital gave them expired insulin. In particular, according to one of the mothers, in September she was given insulin that was expired in March.

“I discovered the timing by accident. I sat on the bench, looked at the pen and saw that “Apidra” had a deadline until September 2018, and “Tresiba” had it completely covered with a tag with the name - I peeled it off, and the month was erased. Based on the new packaging, I found out that the expiration date was back in March 2018,” the woman said.
