On November 20, at the International Festival of Documentary Films in Amsterdam (IDFA), a special premiere show of the restored film “The Environment of Revolution” (1918) will be held-the debut work of the director Dzigi Vertov (1896-1954).
This was reported by the "Independent Gazeta" .
The film was mounted by Dziga Vsev from chronicle materials by the first anniversary of the October Revolution, such as the film magazines "Free Russia" and "Kino-Nedel". For almost a hundred years, the “anniversary of the revolution” was considered lost and only this year was restored by Kinov expert Nikolai Povolov.
Among the events, about which the Picture of Vertov, the February and October Revolution of 1917, is told, the dispersal of the Constituent Assembly, the conclusion of the Brest War, the first labor communes. One of the parts of the film, entitled “The brain of Soviet Russia”, is a portrait gallery of the first leaders of the new state.
The film has a lot of chronicle with Leo Trotsky. According to Prevolov, this was the reason that for many years he practically disappeared from everyday life - "handed over to the warehouse and disbanded on separate rollers."
“Its parts could be shown as independent short films. And we knew them before. But they did not suspect that they were composite parts of the two -hour film by Dzigi Vertov, ”Kinoved explained.
“Our predecessors thought about“ adding up ”the“ anniversary of the revolution ”, in particular, such an attempt was made in the late 60s by Kinovist Viktor Listov, but he had nothing to rely on-there was no description of the film,” said Divolov. -And in November 2017, such a description was made public. The poster of the film "The anniversary of the revolution" was discovered, and on it - all the inscriptions from the film. They gave an exact idea of the quantity and sequence of fragments of the picture. Then we were able to catch scattered pieces in the archive, combine them, overtake them to a digital medium, carry out work, which in today's film production are called "post -production" - and now the film is suitable for showing.
