Mikhail Oseevsky, President of PJSC Rostelecom: “Rostelecom's strategic development vector is to become a digital partner for the public, business and government. This implies the creation of an ecosystem consisting of an extensive set of telecom services and high quality digital services. A cybersecurity platform is a critical element of such an ecosystem that ensures its smooth operation. Ensuring security is a collective task, therefore, a high level of penetration of information security services throughout the country is of fundamental importance. A single platform will allow us to achieve a high level of economic efficiency within each organization and thereby increase the overall level of security of Russian companies.”
The starter set of services includes protection against network attacks (UnifiedThreatManagement), email security (Secure EmailGateway) and web applications (WebApplication Firewall). By the end of 2019, the number of services will more than double.
The starting capacity of the platform is several thousand connections.
Igor Lyapunov, Vice President of PJSC Rostelecom for Information Security, General Director of Rostelecom-Solar, Igor Lyapunov: “The launch of a unified cybersecurity platform opens a new chapter in the development of the Russian information security market. Six years ago, we created the first commercial cyberattack monitoring and response center in Russia, Solar JSOC, which later became the market leader. In this case, we are also talking about creating a new segment with a very wide audience.”
A unified platform for cybersecurity services is aimed at a mass B2B audience. Unlike classic scenarios in which a service provider manages physical hardware in a data center or customer site, a single cybersecurity platform deals with virtualized objects, providing full manageability, rapid scalability, and support for a geographically distributed network.
The service delivery model frees customers from financial and resource costs for the purchase, implementation and support of solutions. This guarantees a quick start and scalability unattainable with other delivery models of these technologies. The performance of each service can be increased or decreased almost instantly. The consumption of services is carried out in the pay-as-you-grow mode - the customer independently determines the level of his needs and purchases services exactly in the amount that is required right now. Connection, configuration, operation and support 24/7 are carried out by SolarJSOC specialists. As a result, the total cost of ownership of platform services for 3-5 years is significantly lower than the local use of similar solutions.
The unified cybersecurity services platform is enriched with threat information used in the provision of SolarJSOC cyber monitoring and response center services. It aggregates data from commercial reports on new malware, vulnerabilities and attack methods (ThreatIntelligence), and is also a member of information exchange with Cyber Threat Emergency Response Teams (CERT) in Russia and abroad.
“The Rostelecom-Solar unified cybersecurity service platform is implemented on the basis of the Telco Cloud high-tech cloud solution, which ensures the smooth operation of solutions in the field of telecommunications and information security. It combines the benefits of MANO (ManagementandOrchestrationforNetworkOperation) solutions with breakthrough software-defined networking (SD-WAN) technology. Our enterprise customers want to take full advantage of cost-effective cloud-based IT and networking solutions. We are expanding our portfolio of business services to help organizations meet their challenges,” says Alexey Sapunov, Senior Vice President for Technical Infrastructure at PJSC Rostelecom. “We have created an open platform that allows our customers to integrate the best network security solutions with a portfolio of network connectivity value-added services.”
