Letov would laugh

The wave of renaming Russian airports in honor of the outstanding figures of the country has reached Novosibirsk. Everything indicates that the local airport Tolmachevo will lose topographic connection with the village nearby and, according to the results of the vote, will receive the name of the legendary Alexander Pokryshkin. Novosibirsk have already written a petition against renaming the Tolmachevo airport:

“The main question arising when discussing the issue of a new name - why? These are huge investments of funds, from simple signs to changes in navigation systems. We have many sectors where this money is much more necessary.

To preserve the memory of our, of course, outstanding countrymen there are many other opportunities. You can call them names new objects under construction, specialized educational institutions! ” - the petition says.

At the same time, even if the renaming happens, the townspeople are likely to call the airport in the old way and will not tell the taxi driver: "to Pokryshkin." In whose name the metro station, relevant educational institutions, as well as monuments and memorial boards, are already immortalized in the city.

In response to the call of the authorities to rename noticeable city objects, unexpected initiatives appeared. In Omsk, the movement is worshiped to assign the name of the rock musician Yegor Letov to the local airport. On the website of the Russian public initiative there was a petition demanding to include the musician’s name in the final vote. The authors of the petition emphasize that, unlike many other cities of the Great Names of Russia project, in Omsk, due to the candidacy of Letov, "considerable public interest" was involved in this topic. The petition has already been signed by hundreds of people.

The initiator of the renaming, Minister of Culture Vladimir Medinsky, however, has already called the fans of Letov "marginal audience." And he added that "during the life of a person to call an airport is a bad sign in honor of him." When journalists noted that Letov died, Medinsky accused them of inability to quote.

Meanwhile, in Novosibirsk, many fans of rock music also thought. And in our city in this sense, there can be only one option - Yana Stanislavovna Diaghileva. The cult character of the local informal scene, which, like Yegor Letov, was unlikely to imagine during her lifetime: everything is not in vain, such a time will certainly come - there will be honor and glory. There will be memorial boards, museums, will erect a monument with a guitar. And even a whole airport will be called .... In fact, it seems to me, these non -conformers would have laughed a lot to learn about such initiatives ...

It is curious that the authorities who have already been pre -war for a long time have not been interested in the opinion of their own citizens on much more pressing issues. Referendums in the country have not been held for a long time, everyone believes in the reality of the elections to the extent of his optimism, or rather naivety. A simple person perfectly understands that a little less than nothing depends on his little opinion in today's reality. And the authorities understand that the most accustomed to everything is already our layman at heart is still offended that he has no voting rights for a long time. From that, apparently, our people are occasionally allowed to do not mean anything and do not affect the will of the will.

And on those who are now grumbling: they say that "there are no more urgent things in the country, except to come up with new names for infrastructure objects, and distract people from pressing problems", the calculation did not occur initially.
