According to Reuters, one of the protesters was accidentally hit by a car, the victim died. It happened in the Savoie department - a woman who was taking a child to the doctor panicked when protesters approached the car and accidentally pressed the gas pedal, reports AFP.

In other regions, 16 people were injured in various incidents involving road closures, one of them is in critical condition.

• The French government wants to raise the tax on diesel fuel by 6.5% next year and on petrol by 2.9%. This, as conceived by officials, should force the French to switch from private cars to public transport or purchase cars with electric motors, which will have a beneficial effect on the environmental situation in the country.
