The FSB announced the release from responsibility of a Kuban policeman who wanted to cooperate with American intelligence

In the Krasnodar Territory, FSB officers issued a warning to a patrol service officer who wanted to cooperate with American intelligence, reports with reference to the press service of the department's management. Interfax

According to the intelligence service, the policeman did not like life in Russia and dreamed of leaving for the United States. In order to settle in another country, he decided to transfer to American intelligence the personal data of Russian police officers, military personnel, as well as other information about “the forms and methods of operation of the Russian law enforcement system, which constitutes a state secret.”

According to the FSB, “at some point” the policeman changed his mind and himself wrote a statement to law enforcement agencies about his intention. As a result, he was given a warning about the inadmissibility of committing a crime under Article 275 of the Criminal Code (high treason), since a person who himself reported his recruitment and refused to commit a crime is exempt from criminal prosecution.

According to NTV , the patrol officer's name is Mikhail Semkov. The TV channel claims that the policeman did not know any secret information.

This is not the first time that the FSB directorate for the Krasnodar Territory has announced that someone who allegedly passed on information to foreign intelligence has been exempted from criminal liability. Thus, on November 12, it became known about the detention of Ukrainian citizen Yuri Permyakov, suspected of informing the SBU about the movements of Russian military equipment. Permyakov was released from responsibility and expelled from the country.

At the end of September, a warning about the inadmissibility of committing a crime under Article 276 of the Criminal Code (espionage) was issued to “SBU agent Sergei Stefanenko.” He was also expelled from the country without criminal prosecution.
