In the village of Pesochny, Kurortny district of St. Petersburg, local activist Dmitry Nachinkin was beaten, demanding to organize public hearings to revise the municipal budget, according to a group of local residents on VKontakte.
“Yesterday evening, November 18, a brutal attack was committed on an activist from our village, Dmitry Nachinkin. He was attacked at his doorstep. In the evening, near the Dixie store, he collected signatures on the need to hold public discussions of the village budget. The attackers inflicted serious injuries on him with metal fittings. He is currently in the hospital. Lost a lot of blood,” noted the community.
78.ru claims that local residents believe that the local administration may be involved in the attack.
“According to Nachinkin’s like-minded people, they have long noticed that all local government orders are won by the same company, and the prices in the estimates for certain works are inflated several times. The activists reported their suspicions to the prosecutor's office. Now the victim is in serious condition in the hospital, he was operated on at night. The police are looking for the attackers,” the publication notes.
“Probably, someone really wants to hide the violations that he reveals in the work of our administration with the connivance of the head of the Moscow Region and deputies. Using such methods, they are trying to intimidate and force us, the residents of the village, not to show interest in government procurement and the administration’s squandering of the budget,” argue the authors of the post on VKontakte.
