The bitcoin exchange rate fell below $ 5,000 for one bitcoin. According to Agence France-Presse, this has happened for the first time since October 2017.

According to the CoinDesk service, which tracks the cost of cryptocurrency on various exchanges, the minimum value of the exchange rate in the last few hours was $4,951.47 per bitcoin.

• The bitcoin rate rose sharply at the end of 2017: in October, for the first time in history, it exceeded $5,000, in November - $10,000, and in mid-December it came close to $20,000. After that, a sharp depreciation began - over the next month, the cryptocurrency fell in price by half.
• The depreciation of bitcoin, which continues throughout 2018, is associated with a restriction on mining and trading in cryptocurrency in some large countries, as well as with a general decline in investor interest and the withdrawal of speculators from the market.
