Protesters against increased fuel taxes and gasoline prices in France blocked three oil storage facilities. This was announced by an official representative of the oil company Total, Reuters reports .

According to him, two of the blocked oil storage facilities are used by Total: one is in the commune of Verne-sur-Sech in northwestern France, the other in the commune of Fos-sur-Mer in southeastern France. The third, in the city of La Rochelle, is partly owned by Total, but is not used by it.

Protests against higher fuel taxes have been taking place in France since Saturday, November 17. On the first day, according to the country's Ministry of Internal Affairs, about 280,000 people took part. About 160 people were detained due to the unrest, and 400 are being investigated.

The protest movement was called the “Yellow Vests” because some of the participants wore reflective vests. Organizers promise that protests will continue until the government reduces taxes.
