The Duma adopted a law on electronic military IDs. They can be obtained voluntarily

The State Duma adopted in the third reading a bill providing for the possibility for citizens to receive personal electronic cards instead of military tickets.

The card will contain a person's personal data, information about his fitness for military service, information about work, as well as biometric data provided for by the regulation on military registration.

Cards will be issued only to those who give their consent to this. The rest will continue to receive traditional military tickets.
