Peskov announced the “legal absence” of private military companies in Russia

Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that there are no private military companies in Russia de jure.

Thus, Peskov forwarded to the Ministry of Defense and law enforcement agencies the issue related to the appeal of veteran organizations to the International Criminal Court on the activities of PMCs, reports . Interfax

“Probably, after all, this issue is more within the competence of the Ministry of Defense, because, you see, de jure we do not have such legal entities as a private military company in accordance with our legislation,” the spokesman said.

Peskov added that the topic of going to court over PMCs is not on the Kremlin's agenda.

Earlier it was reported that fighters of Russian private military companies and veterans of the armed forces and military operations appealed to the International Criminal Court with a demand to open an investigation against the organizers of PMCs and those who help them. The reason for the lawsuit is that over the past few years, veteran organizations have received thousands of complaints from Russians who served in private military and security companies.
