The era of prosperity

In our community, it is instructed to complain about life, a low level of income, therefore, the surrounding public often has the impression of scientists and teachers as people, to put it mildly, not rich. In the dashing nineties, it was, in general, it was: we did not have money then, we were actually proletarians of mental labor, working for the idea almost disinterestedly.

But since then much has changed. The party and the government made many important decisions regarding the investment of money in science, in higher education. Epochic May decrees of 2012 appeared, which demanded to increase the salaries of teachers and researchers to 200% of the Central Servial by 2018. Which was done. So now the statistics show perfectly how our welfare has grown.

Others, however, say that the statistics are deceiving, that the salaries of scientists and teachers have grown so much on paper due to the fact that many switched from full rate to the share of the rate. In other words, this is nothing more than a statistical focus.

I don’t know, perhaps this is the proportion of truth, but nevertheless, improvements are obvious. And, unlike earlier times, in contrast to the poor nineties, the road to a full -fledged - and completely legal - material prosperity is finally open to the workers of science and education.

You may be surprised, but it is. And I found out about this in a paradoxical way. One of my colleague visited the seminar organized by the Society of Scientists, where representatives of the notorious Dissernet acted. With horror, he shared he heard with me. Predatory magazines publishing any garbage for money, take -off the number of garbage publications from Russia and all that place. He swore everything that constant pressure on institutes and universities, for unfortunate teachers, the requirements to issue more and more articles to the most sad consequences in terms of scientific ethics. Debauchery, they say, corruption and degradation ...

Meanwhile, listening to his story, I finally became convinced that the door in the era of prosperity opened for us. The colleague, outraged, said that at the Russian State Social University, it turns out that a certain Ilya Nikolayevich Medvedev works, who has already published more than 130 articles in some kind of garbage Indian magazine this year, which is indexed in Web of Science, although it does not have an impact factor. Moreover, in most articles he is the only author. And then simple arithmetic. The publication of the article in this journal seems to cost $ 200, and the university paid him for publications, as was said, about 20 million rubles.

It turns out that Mr. Medvedev received ten ten spent dollar in return. Perhaps this profitability, perhaps, will envy the drug business, and everything is completely legal, without any threat to be in prison! Moreover, the leadership of the university for Ilya Nikolayevich almost prays: he practically saves the university with his printed feat, allowing him to demonstrate decent public indicators.

My colleague, however, was indignant: it is impossible to write 130 articles in a year! This is obvious, fraud: frank mass reprinting articles from the “messengers” and “conferences materials” in fact with the aim of stealing budget funds.

I do not deny that you can look at what is happening and thus. But you can look from the other side. Repeated publication of materials from some Russian magazines in English? The propaganda of our achievements abroad! Unscrupulous activity to stuff your own pocket at the state expense? The ascetic work for the benefit of alma mater, allowing the native university to remain afloat, continue work, providing the income of thousands of people. Amoral and unethical actions discrediting the title of a Russian scientist? On the contrary, work for the benefit of a native country, on strengthening its prestige, on the direct and direct implementation of May decrees in terms of increasing the number of publications of Russian scientists. Can there be a crime that is beneficial to almost everyone?

And the main thing is that the pillar road to legitimate enrichment is now open not only before the Edison and Einsteins, but literally before everyone. Come to the right place, put the desired affiliation - and rubbish yourself loot, bringing the good of the country and organization. As for the ethical moments, you know, 20 million on the road do not lie on the road, and shame, as they say, is not smoke - the eyes are not an attach.
