Internet providers will increase tariffs in 2019

More than half of the managers of Internet operators in large cities are confident that their companies will raise Internet prices by at least 10% next year, according to a survey by the Telecom Daily resource (a sample of 100 people) cited by Vedomosti . The reasons are standard - a bad situation in the economy, tax increases, as well as the cost of fulfilling the requirements of the Yarovaya Law. In absolute terms, the rise in price will be small - for example, Rostelecom has an average of 20-30 rubles per month.

• Numbers. More than half - 52% - of managers have no doubts about raising tariffs next year within 10%, almost a third of respondents (29%) warn of price increases above 10%, every tenth manager (11%) does not expect changes, another 8% do not ruled out a possible reduction in tariffs.
• Causes. The main risks and threats, according to the interviewed managers, are a sharp deterioration in the situation in the economy, the instability of the euro and the dollar, the fall in the solvency of the population and the increase in taxes (half of the respondents mentioned the increase in VAT to 20% ), as well as the implementation of the Yarovaya law. However, only every ninth manager considers US and EU sanctions a problem.
• Context. During a similar survey in 2017, managers considered only the indexation of tariffs for inflation (no more than 4%), managers are talking about a possible price increase due to several unfavorable factors at once, Telecom Daily CEO Denis Kuskov told Vedomosti. According to him, the increase in tariffs has already begun - for example, in November they increased by 5-7% in some regions at Rostelecom.
• Two employees of Rostelecom told the newspaper that the company would raise tariffs in waves in all regions by exactly 5-7%, in absolute terms these are small numbers - an average of 20-30 rubles.
